Harley Quinn

Christmas Version

„Merry Christmas Nutbuckets!

„Wow, holee piles of preezzies! They must have a twenty kids, santa must a‘ broken his back carting all this stuff off the roof.“

Mmmm, spiked eggnog. It’s like the cream a‘ Christmas in a spoon!

Dr. Harleen Frances Quinzel, also known as Harley Quinn first appeared in the Batman: The Animated Series episode „Joker’s Favor“, where she served as a humorous female sidekick to the Joker. Originally she was the therapist of the Joker but fell madly in love with him and helped him to escape the Arkham Asylum. Since then she’s the sidekick of the Joker and helps him with his plans.

Since Harley Quinn appeared the first time in the DC Universe, many things happened and there are a lot of awesome stories of her. I love her energetic and charming character and that she’s still an intelligent adult who knows how to combine her appearance and flirt techniques to get her what she wants. I’m stunned by her since I discovered this character! I was inspired to cosplay her by Faerie Blossom, who did a really great job cosplaying her.

For Christmas I wanted to create an outfit for Harley Quinn. First I ordered a christmas dress online but I wasn’t satisfied with it so I decided to make my own outfit.

About the Project

20. December 2017

Purchased Items

The hat and the wig are purchased.

Selfmade Items

I made the socks, the body, the gloves, the bomb and the mask by myself. For the body I traced the pattern of a body I already owned and altered it then. The pattern for the gloves were my own hands and for the socks I covered my leg into transparent foil and traced the pattern to the fabric.

I struggled with the socks because I didn’t knew how I should make them. In the end I made it simple since the fabric was elastic. This outfit was easy to make, I didn’t needed much sewing experience.

I used fabric leftovers from the bodysuit. This outfit was really cheap for me, the only thing I bought was the wig for 35.- CHF.

The whole outfit is made with lycra fabrics and fake fur.

Making Of

I used another body I owned to trace the pattern to the fabric. Then I divided the two sides to make on side red and the other black. I stabilized the diamonds with iron fleece and sewed it with the sewing machine onto the body. For the fake fur I used hot glue to attach it.

The gloves are made with the same fabric as the body. I traced my hands onto the fabric, added seam allowance and sewed them together. I attached the fake fur with hot glue.

For the socks I needed a pattern. I wasn’t sure how I should make them since the foot has a difficult form and I didn’t knew how to make it properly. After a long time thinking and trying I noticed that I made it too complicated. It’s strechy fabric so I just have to make two symmetric sides. So I sewed the socks, attached the diamonds the same way like the body and attached the fake fur with hot glue.
