Touka Kirishima

Battle Suit Version

We might be monsters. But that doesn’t mean we don’t have a heart.

„No matter how much I try, there’s a wall I can never jump over, and there’s happiness that I can never have. But I’m still hanging on to life. Despite it all.“

„Everything is ‚terrible‘? Don’t make me laugh. So what about me… for me, it’s been terrible since I was born.“

„There is no reason we have to be protected by you. You pretend you care about other people but in the end, it’s all about you. You’re just afraid of being alone, aren’t you?“

About the Character

Toka Kirishima (霧嶋 董香, Kirishima Tōka) is a ghoul. She wears a rabbit mask while hunting, earning her the alias Rabbit(ラビット, Rabitto).
In Tokyo Ghoul she’s a waitress in the coffee shop „Anteiku“ and a student. She returns in Tokyo Ghoul:re as the manager of the coffee shop :re.

Touka is my favourite character in the Anime/Manga universe. Since I discovered Tokyo Ghoul I knew I had to cosplay her. She has a rash attitude but from the bottom of her heart she’s a very heartwarming person. I like her style and appearance and could imagine to even cut my hair the same as hers. She never gave up and keeps fighting for a peaceful live no matter how hard her life gets. I take her as a role model for her hard work.

I love this character so much that I decided to create another cosplay of her. I love the design of her battle suit and wanted to wear it too.  To watch the first cosplay of her, follow the button below:

About the Project

Released

26 May 2017

Purchased Items

I bought the fabric in a local store and the lenses from Amazon. The socks are from the costume I originally bought but couldn’t use. The shoes were already mine so I hadn’t to buy black boots. At a convention 2018 I also bought the gas mask, which I didn’t had until then

Selfmade Items

The jacket and skirt are selfmade. I used the pattern of a bought costume for this outfit.

Nagini as Touka Kirishima
Difficulty

I was still not very experienced at sewing so having the pattern of the finished costume was a big help for me. I would say this costume was between easy and normal.

Costs

I didn’t had to buy the wig but spent two times money for the outfit since I wasn’t content with the „bought“ one. I also bought mini scleras and in 2018 real scleras, which are expensive. All in all I would say it costed me around 200.- CHF

Materials

For the clothes I used fake leather fabric, a zipper and press studs for the jacket.

Making Of

First I planned to buy the outfit since I wasn’t very talented with the sewing machine. I ordered the costume from China for around 50$ but the fabric was horrible. It felt like garbage bag material and I didn’t want it to wear it like this. So I only wore it once for a photoshooting. Since I planned to wear this outfit for the JapAniManga Night in 2017 I decided to give it a try and bought some fabric and other materials. I’ve cut the costume apart and used it as pattern. Since I’m really clumsy I had like four attempts sewing on just one arm because I’ve turned the arm piece always to the wrong side.

I finished the costume in time and was really happy wearing it, even though the mask was missing. The mask was a annoying part for me since I couldn’t find any good matching mask to buy so I tried to make one by myself. Sadly I didn’t finished it until the Fantasy Basel 2018 but at the convention I discovered a gas mask which looks almost like hers so I’m pretty happy with that.
